Aus Argentinien schreibt mir Frau Karin Gentinetta:
… unfortunately, I do not speak either French or German. But if there is anything you can do by way of posting the proposed call in that genealogical society with my e-mail address >>> kgentinetta@monbar.com <<<, I would certainly appreciate it. ... my father, Mario Gentinetta, who is now 84 years old. He is determined to find some answers to a story that has been plaguing him all of his life. Josef Gentinetta (born in Brig) and Katerina Claussen (my great grandparents) imigrated to Argentina around 1880s. However, contrary to what I originally believed, my father now tells me that Katerina was not married when she went to Argentina. She apparently signed (according to my father) some type of contract with the swiss company that established San Jeronimo Norte in Argentina. According to what he was told, Katerina (originally from Bern) was a very cultured and educated woman. What is most tragic and most strange about the story is that after having two sons with Josef Gentinetta (whom she ultimately married at San Jeronimo Norte), she committed suicide (She left behind two children -- my grandfather, Julio Luis Gentinetta (who was 6 years old at the time of her death), and his younger brother who was only 3 years old. My father does not know what happened to this younger son and does not know his name. This has haunted him all of his life and I recall that as a child we went to San Jeronimo Norte but he obtained no real answers. He would like to get a hold of her death papers if they exist and try to figure out why a beautiful, educated woman with two young children would have taken her own life. The connections to San Jeronimo Norte between your ancestors and mine caught my attention. In any event, if there is anything you can do, I would appreciate it.
