Titre : Genealogy research in Canton Valais

Hello,

I hope that you can help me with information on how to research my

great-great-grandparents, ANTONE and MARIA SCHWICK who were residents

of Canton Valais before they immigrated to the United States during

the 1880\’s.

Their son, Frederick, had been killed in an avalanche while guiding

mountain climbers at some time prior to the family deciding to leave

Switzerland. Fred had also served as a member of the Swiss Guard in

Rome prior to his career as a guide.

I know that Antone and Maria had 5 children but I only have names

for 4 of them: Caroline, Louisa, Sofie/Sophia and Fred.

I have no information on the marriage of Antone and Maria nor do I

know for sure where they lived.

ANY help would be *greatly* appreciated!! Thank you in advance for

your time and attention on this.

Busco datos de mi tatarabuelo Pedro José Benay y de mi tatarabuela Marie Taramarcaz. Ellos eran de Valais, pero probablemente Pedro era de Evionaz y Marie de Sembrancher. Llegaron a la Colonia San José – Entre Ríos – Argentina, entre 1860 y 1872, no he podido confirmar las fechas. Marie tenía 19 años cuando llego a Argentina.

Les agradeceré mucho la información que me provean, pues estoy haciendo mi árbol genealógico y soy una aficionada a esta ciencia hermosa que permite reconstruir mi historia personal.

Anton Schwick, born in Bellwald (abt. 1838), son of Moritz Schwick of Bellwald and Catharina Holzer. Anton married in Sierre on May 4, 1863 Maria Josepha Mathieu, born in Sierre 1836, daughter of Johann Mathieu of Albinen and Catharina Berclaz of Sierre.

Children born in Sierre:

– 24.11.1864 Maria Catharina Carolina

– 12.03.1865 Maria Angelica Sophia, died in Sierre 26.04.1867

– 05.08.1868 Maria Ludovika Francisca

– 24.04.1875 Catharina Josepha Sophia

– 28.06.1877 son (born death)
